Fragment Analysis

Submitting Samples

  1. This includes sequencing for Fragment Analysis, TRFLP, RFLP, microsatellites, primer extension, etc.
  2.  Samples may be submitted in liquid form or dried down.
  3.  We will add the LIZ 600 dye standard along with the Hi-Di formamide, denature the samples, and run on the sequencer.
  4.  Please fill out a Fragment Analysis form for these types of samples.

Request services by logging onto the OUHSC Core site via our iLab Solutions portal:  https://ouhsc.corefacilities.org/account/login

Analyzing Fragment Analysis Data

 You can download a free version of Peak Scanner from Thermo Fisher to analyze your data.    https://www.lifetechnologies.com/order/catalog/product/4381867

There is a "download for free" link under "Description".  The dye standard we use is LIZ600, and you will need to enter that for the analysis.  The LIZ600 peaks are in orange.

  • Finished sequences will be named as follows: 
    • date of run+run#_well#_user-initials_sample number on submission form (1,2,3, etc.)_capillary#.filetype
    • example: 2002062101_A01_AB_1_001.ab1.  Even if you submitted your samples in tubes, they will have a well position based off  the way the samples are loaded onto the machine.  Please look for your initials and the sample number following them to line up with the sample number on your form.
    • to identify which sample is which, please look at your form and line up which sample was with which sample number.  This applies if you submitted them in tubes or if you submitted them in a plate.
    • - -
    • for full 96-well plate submissions, the sample names with all be your plate name
  • Please allow up to a 48 hour turn-around time for data. Samples submitted after 3 PM will not be processed until the following day. If submitted after 3 PM on a Thursday, samples will not be processed until the following Monday.
