NIH announces the 2018 call for nominations for the ODP Early-Stage Investigator Lecture. The
award is made annually to an early-career scientist who has made significant research contributions
and is poised to become a leader in prevention research, but who has not yet successfully competed
for a substantial NIH-Supported research project. The award winner will be invited with all travel
expenses covered, to give a lecture at the NIH on Monday, March 19, 2018. The awardee will also
be offered an opportunity for professional networking with NIH program directors and scientists.

The OUHSC Office of the Vice President for Research would like to invite you to submit either your
work or that of your peers, staff, and/or students to be included in the quarterly research e-newsletter.
The purpose of the e-newsletter is to provide information concerning the important and exciting
research and scholarly work being conducted by our OUHSC faculty, students, and staff.
Please send a brief synopsis of the research that was conducted or published between February 1,
2017 and August 31, 2017 and any accompanying figure/image/graph. The deadline to submit
information is Tuesday, September 26, 2017, to Samantha Skrepnek (email@example.com).
Information included in the newsletter will be at the discretion of the Vice President for Research.

OU Growth Fund Application Now Available – Receive up to $75,000
The University of Oklahoma Office of Technology Development is now accepting applications for the
Growth Fund, which helps to strengthen the commercial potential of disclosed University of Oklahoma
innovations. The program’s purpose is to move inventions closer to the market, including providing for
prototypes, additional research results, and/or “gap” funding to keep a program in place during transition.
Recipients from the OU Health Sciences Center can receive up to $75,000 in Growth Funds. The

Physical Stresses: Keeping Us Alive and Well, An Interdisciplinary Research Symposium
on Mechanotransduction -- CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The abstract submission deadline for the Symposium Physical Stresses: Keeping Us “Alive and Well” is
11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017. The Symposium, funded in part by a PHF Symposium Grant,
will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the College of Allied Health Building. The Symposium will
consist of three keynote speakers, nine selected oral presentations, and a peer-reviewed poster session.
