Description: The Stephenson Cancer Center established the Cancer Undergraduate Research
Experience (CURE) Program to enable outstanding undergraduate students to work alongside
experienced cancer investigators to encourage their interests in and preparation for careers in
cancer research and medicine. The CURE Program offers students a chance to receive intensive
hands-on training and experience in active research laboratories over an eight-week summer
program. In addition, the scholars will also be a part of a journal club and many other exciting
opportunities. At the conclusion of the program, students participate in a poster presentation to
gain experience in organizing, interpreting, and discussing their research results.

As of December 31, 2017, the Legacy (downloadable PDF) grant application forms will no longer be
available. The Application Submission System & Interface for Submission Tracking (ASSIST) system
will now be used to prepare and submit grant applications electronically to NIH and other Public Health
Service agencies. ASSIST is very user-friendly and catches most errors before submission. This talk
will provide an introduction to ASSIST. No registration is required.
Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center
Graduate and Undergraduate Summer Scholars Program
Application Deadline: January 31, 2018
The Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center at the Stephenson Cancer Center will be offering summer
research training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to attend a 12-week program
(5/21/2018 to 8/10/2018). This program allows trainees to work under the mentorship of tobacco
investigators in a research setting at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma
City. Trainees will complete a mentored research project which they will present at the end of the term
and will prepare an abstract for submission to a national conference. Trainees will also participate in
seminars and activities covering a diverse array of tobacco and research-related topics. For more

Description: THE ANNUAL CANCER RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM is an annual one-day research
symposium with three different tracks including cancer prevention and control, preclinical translational
research, and clinical and correlative research. The target audience is faculty, staff, graduate students,
and research members.
Pre-Proposal Application for New Phase 1 COBRE Application
OUHSC is eligible to submit one new Phase 1 COBRE application for the January 24, 2019 deadline.

In order to select the most competitive PI and research theme for this COBRE application there will be
an internal competition as described in the attached Guidelines.
The Pre-Proposal Application is due April 20, 2018.
