OK-INBRE Call for Mentors for the 2018 Summer Undergraduate Research Program

The Oklahoma IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (OK-INBRE) Summer

Undergraduate Research Program exposes promising students to the exciting world of research

and acts as a mechanism for increasing the applicant pool for graduate programs in biomedical

research.  We are now seeking faculty mentors for the summer of 2018.  Each selected student

will receive a salary of $5,000 (subject to taxes) to join experienced laboratories over the summer

(May 21 - July 13, 2018).  Attempts are made to match the interests of each participant to a

mentoring research professor with related interests.  Each Mentor's laboratory will receive

$2,200 for supplies.  To conclude the eight-week program, each student will present a scientific

poster of their summer research project.  The cost of preparing the poster is to be covered by the

aforementioned $2,200 allocation for supplies.

If you are interested in serving as an OK-INBRE summer faculty mentor, please complete the

online application form located at http://okinbre.ouhsc.edu/SummerFacultyMentors.aspx which

will require a one-page description of your research including a brief description of the project

envisioned for the summer student, and your current NIH-style Biographical Sketch (not to exceed

five pages).  Applications from prospective faculty mentors at Oklahoma research-intensive

institutions as well as Oklahoma regional universities are strongly encouraged.  The deadline for

applications is February 9, 2018.  Applicants will be notified regarding project selection.
