WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

Introduction to BASH and Bioinformatics Workshop – July 5, 2024
OK-INBRE (Oklahoma Idea Network of Biomedical Research Excellence) and Institutional Research Core Facility are offering a free workshop on how to use BASH and its use in bioinformatics. OUHSC based students, postdocs, faculty, and staff are welcome!
The Unix/Linux shell, also known as the command shell or terminal, is a robust tool in computing, enabling users to merge existing programs and automate repetitive tasks. It is also key to accessing other computing resources such as supercomputers and remote resources. We will learn how to remotely connect to the OU SUPERCOMPUTING CENTER FOR EDUCATION & RESEARCH (OSCER), and use BASH to communicate with the computer. We will also learn about sequencing technologies and run a job on OSCER to conduct bioinformatics analysis of sequencing reads.
This is a beginner-level workshop for researchers, no prior experience is needed (i.e. no prerequisites). Registration is required. Find out more and sign up here.
