Anyone that is currently a Principal Investigator, key personnel, and/or anyone actively conducting research (basic, translational, or clinical) on sponsored research grant awards (including all trainees and personnel involved in reconciling or overseeing funds related to sponsored research grant awards), are required to take designated training.

Research Security Training (every 2 years) - access through OnPoint
To comply with the research security training requirements designated by the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 and National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) 33, the Office of Export Controls and Secure Research Operations has developed a supplemental research security training module. This module, in combination with OU’s established training for researchers, administrators, and other staff involved in the research lifecycle, will satisfy the necessary training on the topics of:
- Cybersecurity
- International Collaborations
- International Travel
- Foreign Interference/Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs
- Rules for proper use of funds
- COI/COC Disclosure
The goal of this course is to ensure that participants understand their responsibilities under the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, promoting a secure, responsible, and innovative research environment. Those individuals conducting or facilitating research will be required to have this training completed prior to the start of the award.
