Description: The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Stephenson Cancer Center

are proud to host “END2CANCER: Emerging Nanotechnology and Drug Delivery Applications for

Cancer” conference from December 14-15, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. The focus of

the two-day conference is to bridge laboratory research conducted in the areas of nanotechnology

and drug delivery to clinical application for the detection, diagnosis, imaging, and treatment of cancer.

The conference will bring together leaders in the field who will discuss new and emerging concepts

and technologies and challenges in clinical advancement. Topics in modulating the tumor micro-

environment and harnessing the immune system for improved drug delivery and therapy will also be

covered in planned thematic sessions. Finally, funding opportunities for cancer nanomedicine from

the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health will be presented.

Dr. Linda Mason will host a Beginning Grantwriting Workshop for faculty, graduate students,

staff and administrators of Oklahoma higher education institutions on Monday, November 6, from

9 am to 3:30 pm in the OCAP Conference Room, Suite 450 in Building 840 of Research Park in

Oklahoma City. There is no fee for the workshop, but you must register. Send an email with your

contact information and position in higher education to lmason@osrhe.edu. The workshop is

limited to 20 participants. It is helpful to bring a laptop computer for hands-on activities in the

workshop.

The Office of Technology Development will offer the Innovation to Impact Series

Session 4 – “Copyright 101 .” Topics to be discussed will be:  What is a Copyright?; How do I protect

myself from Copyright Infringement claims?; What is fair use?; and Is there value in Copyright?

This session will occur on October 25th from Noon- 1:00 pm in Biomedical Research Center Building,  

Room 103. Lunch will be provided.

ORA Noon Conference:  Introduction to Grant Writing - This talk is designed to present a

brief overview of the grant writing process and considerations for new investigators or those new to

grant writing. We will also touch upon the 2016 NIH changes to the review process in which reviewers

are asked to search for evidence that an applicant has been responsive to the areas that NIH deems

important to enhancing rigor and reproducibility, the corresponding NIH recommendations for changes

to the format of the research plan, and the three key questions that reviewers are asked to consider

when reviewing grant applications. Thursday, October 26, 2017; Bird Library Auditorium, LIB-299 from
