ORA/GCA/Purchasing Workshop -- Save the date and Take the Survey!

Ever wondered who we are and what we do?

Ever needed help with a grant submission?

Not quite sure how to support your faculty with their grants and contracts?

Are you struggling with a human subjects section of your proposal?

Are budget and compliance questions keeping you from your real job?

Finally the moment you’ve been waiting for….

We are pleased to announce a joint workshop, “The OUHSC World of Grants & Contracts” for

faculty and staff.  This workshop will offer a one-day training on sponsored research topics.

The information will be provided in a variety of formats ranging from talks to breakout sessions

with experts sitting at tables eager to answer all your questions.

WHEN:  January 8 and 10 (same topics on both days with morning and afternoon sessions

switched in case one time of day is better than another)

We want to make sure that the topics match your interests and requirements.  To do so, we

are asking that you participate in a very short (less than 5 minutes) online survey.   Please

write in any other topics or specifics that you would like to learn more about.

If you’d like to provide even more detailed feedback or specifics, feel free to send an email to

hscora@ouhsc.edu

After the results are in, we will send out a detailed agenda to the campus.  We look forward

to seeing you at the workshop!

Call for Applications: 2019-2020 Awards Supported by the San Antonio Nathan Shock Center

The San Antonio Nathan Shock Center is soliciting applications to support the research of any

investigator who is developing a new project in the basic biology of aging.  Applications are accepted

from investigators at any US academic institution.  Junior investigators are encouraged to apply.

We can consider applications from any investigator who is eligible to receive NIH grants according to

the rules of their home institution. The projects should utilize one or more Cores of the Center. Projects

that propose creative uses of more than one Core are encouraged. Awards will be made for the next

budget year (July 1 2019 to June 30 2020). Funds will be allocated for Core services. Only under very

unusual circumstances and careful justification will we consider awarding funds directly to the PI’s lab.

Applications are due January 15, 2019.  For additional information go to:

The Graduate College is now receiving applications for the 2019 Summer Undergraduate

Research Programs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.  There are four

separate programs: the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE), the Native

American Research Centers for Health (NARCH), The Oklahoma IDeA Network of Biomedical

Research Excellence (OK-INBRE), and the Cancer Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE)

Summer Programs. Again this year, approximately 60 students will be hosted in labs on the

OUHSC campus and across the OK-INBRE network. All participants will receive valuable research

experience, be given the chance to present their summer projects at a poster competition, and

receive a generous stipend.

The deadline to apply is February 5th, 2019.

The online application and additional information about these programs are on the SURP website:

OK-INBRE Research Project Investigator (RPI) Program

Proposal deadline: February 22, 2019

Call for proposals:

https://okinbre.ouhsc.edu/Funding-Opportunities/Funding-Opportunities-for-OUHSC-and-OMRF

The Oklahoma IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (OK-INBRE) is requesting

applications for Research Project Investigator Awards (RPI).  The program seeks to support

proposals designed to generate preliminary data that enhances the competitiveness of the OUHSC/

OMRF investigators for future extramural funding.  The proposed project must align with one of the

biomedical research themes of the OK-INBRE program: Cancer, Developmental Biology or

Infectious Diseases.  The RPI project period is 2 ½ years in duration funded at $100,000 in direct

costs per year.  Selected projects will commence in May 2019.

ORAU-Directed Research and Development (ODRD) Program

The FY 2019 competition for collaborative awards of up to $75,000 to be shared between the

university and ORAU researchers is now open. We anticipate and expect that these seed funds

will position the collaborative teams to be more competitive for new, external funding opportunities.

The deadline for joint ORAU/university proposals is March 25, 2019 and potential university partners

are encouraged to submit concepts for discussion with ORAU partners as soon as possible.
