Kathleen Furr, EdD
Associate Vice President for Research
Kathleen Furr is the Associate Vice President for Research Administration for OU Health Sciences. Dr. Furr provides strategic and operational leadership for research administration, overseeing sponsored program services, clinical trial and professional service contract management, non-financial post-award management and regulatory reporting compliance. She will ensure that OUHSC research operations are efficient, compliant and supportive of institutional research goals.
Dr. Furr is a higher education leader with nearly two decades of experience advancing research administration and institutional operations across the U.S. and the Middle East. Most recently serving as Chief Administrative Officer at Cornell University, she has held leadership roles at New York University Abu Dhabi, American University of Sharjah, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Illinois. Her expertise spans strategic planning, research development, compliance, and operational excellence, with a proven record of building systems that enhance efficiency, accountability, and faculty support.
An active contributor to the global research administration community, Dr. Furr has presented at international conferences, served in leadership roles with the Society of Research Administrators International and the National Council of University Research Administrators, and received recognition for innovation in research operations.
She earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Policy and Leadership from Southern Methodist University, along with a Master of Science in International Studies, Human Development, Society and Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Oklahoma State University.
