HHDC Hamm Lecture - featuring Prize Laureate Prof. Sir Stephen O'Rahilly
The Harold Hamm Diabetes Center invites you to attend a special event, to recognize the 2023 Hamm Prize Laureate, Sir Stephen O’Rahilly, MD, FRCP, FRCIP, FRS, FMedSci, from Cambridge University in the UK.
Prof. Sir O’Rahilly has been named the recipient of the 6th biennial (2023) Harold Hamm International Prize for Biomedical Research in Diabetes. Among his many accomplishments, Prof. Sir O’Rahilly is credited with the discovery of several of the genes underlying monogenic forms of childhood obesity, including Leptin Receptor mutations and the physiology underlying these disorders.
Prof. Sir O’Rahilly will be recognized with a conferral ceremony on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11:45 AM at the Bird Library Auditorium, Room 299, to include remarks by Harold Hamm and HHDC Director, Jed Friedman, PhD.
Following the ceremony, Prof. Sir O’Rahilly will present a lecture on: Adventures in metabolism, endocrinology and behaviour, from noon to one.
Boxed lunch will be provided to the first 50 in attendance.

2024 ORA/GCA Workshop - Save the Date

REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS: HHDC DIABETES GRANT PROGRAMS
Harold Hamm Diabetes Center invites researchers to submit diabetes-related projects for funding consideration to the HHDC Grant Program. Diabetes projects aimed specifically at collaboration between researchers in diabetes and cancer are invited to submit proposals to the HHDC-SCC cancer-related diabetes Grant Program.
The Harold Hamm Diabetes Center (HHDC) is pleased to announce funding opportunities for diabetes grants for 2024. The HHDC will consider funding six types of proposals, including: Team Science, Novel Pilot Projects, Novel Pilot Projects for Post-Docs, Bridge Funding, Equipment Grants and Travel Reimbursements. Additionally, in partnership with the Stephenson Cancer Center, there are two HHDC-SCC mechanisms for Team Science and Novel Pilot Projects.
HHDC Team Science: $100,000 per year for up to 3 years
HHDC Novel Pilot Project: $70,000 per year for up to 2 years
HHDC Novel Pilot Project for Post-Docs: $70,000 per year for up to 2 years
HHDC Bridge: $100,000 for 1 year
HHDC Equipment: up to $250,000
HHDC Travel Reimbursement: up to $2,500
HHDC-SCC Team Science: $100,000 per year for up to 3 years
HHDC-SCC Novel Pilot Project: $70,000 per year for up to 2 years
PROCESS:
- Letter of Intent to HHDCGrants@ouhsc.edu, DUE by 5PM January 12, 2024. Please see attached LOIs for proposal-specific instructions. Note: Travel Reimbursement applicants do not need to submit a LOI, and have a different submission deadline.
- Full Application candidates will be notified by January 31, 2024, if selected for full application to this program. Selected applicants will need to submit a complete routed and signed application to HHDCGrants@ouhsc.edu for review by an HHDC review panel, DUE BY 5PM, TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2024.
- Applicants not selected to be part of the HHDC Diabetes Grant Program may submit their applications through the regular PHF grant submission process.
2024 OK-INBRE Research Project Investigator Awards – Request for Proposals
Deadline: March 1, 2024
Description: The Oklahoma IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (OK-INBRE) is soliciting applications for its Research Project Investigator (RPI) award program. The purpose of the RPI program is to foster and develop biomedical research programs designed to generate preliminary data that enhances the competitiveness of the investigator for future extramural funding. Full-time, tenure track faculty members (or equivalent) at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation who qualify as an Early-Stage Investigator as defined by the NIH are eligible to apply. Awarded projects will receive up to $100,000 in direct costs per year plus applicable F&A costs for up of two years. The forms, instructions, and submission information can be found on the

Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) Pilot Research Program
Description: The SNPRC Pilot Research program provides opportunities and support for investigators to use SNPRC nonhuman primate resources in highly focused, short-term studies with a high likelihood of enhancing the value, utility, feasibility, and attractiveness of nonhuman primates for biomedical research. High priority will be given to studies that propose to generate preliminary data for applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for support of future research projects. Those proposing to develop new nonhuman primate models of disease, or develop and/or test new research methods, instrumentation, or approaches for biomedical research using nonhuman primates, also will be considered responsive to the goals of the program.

HRSA Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP)
Description: The purpose of the GWEP is to educate and train the health care and supportive care workforces to care for older adults by collaborating with community partners. Applicants must maximize patient and family engagement to address care gaps and improve health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care and other appropriate specialties using the Age-Friendly Health Systems Framework.

These awards are offered to provide support for multi-investigator-initiated clinical research projects that have the potential to make an important contribution to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s mission. The 2024 Health Equity Team Science Award (HETSA) with LOI will be published in February 2024. The HETSA is offered to provide support for multi-investigator research projects that have the potential to make an important contribution to health equity in the cystic fibrosis population. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Call for applications to establish networks of epidemic and pandemic sciences research excellence across Africa
Description: This call will foster a vibrant ecosystem of Epidemic Science Leadership and Innovation Networks (EPSILONs) across Africa. Each EPSILON will comprise three to eight organisations in a ‘hub and spoke’ consortium. Each consortium will establish a network of research excellence in a thematic area relevant to epidemic and pandemic sciences research, preparedness and response. While interdisciplinary applications are strongly encouraged, EPSILONs will focus on one or more of the following thematic research areas:
