The Institutional Research Core Facility is a state of the art facility offering a variety of services in the areas of DNA sequencing/genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and flow cytometry and imaging. The Core is a University Core Facility under the direction of Dr. James Papin. The main focus of the core laboratory is to facilitate research by offering specialized technology and expertise on a fee for service basis. The Core accepts samples from any researcher in need of the available technology, and Dr. Papin and facility personnel are available to consult with PIs, Post Docs, and Graduate students in regards to experimental design and use of the core facility technology at any time.
Our Office Hours are Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Sample Drop Off is available Monday through Friday: 8:30am to 4:30pm

Acknowledgement of Contributions:
The following guidelines are offered as a measure to ensure that research performed in the LMBCR is appropriately recognized and cited, though the principal investigator of the project ultimately decides authorship.
Authorship – The following activities should warrant authorship
- Conception, experimental design, critical project input, or original intellectual input
- Analysis and interpretation of acquired data beyond routine practices
- Analysis or interpretation of data requiring unique expertise or skills
- Drafting or significantly revising a manuscript for intellectual content
- Development of novel procedures for the acquisition of data
- Intellectual contribution to a manuscript including materials and methods
- LMBCR scientist produced a figure (and figure legend)
Acknowledgment – The following activities should warrant acknowledgement
- Core scientist provided routine services for the user
- Core scientist collected data for the user that required a specific skill set, but did not involve interpretation of the data
- Review of the manuscript by the Core scientist for content without significant contribution
Publications containing data generated by the Core should include an acknowledgement of Core and/or include members as coauthors. The Core needs these acknowledgements and authorships to help demonstrate our contributions to the research community. This in turn helps secure future funding to maintain a robust Core facility and provide professional development of its staff. The Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) has published a guideline to use when considering whether or not to include core laboratory members on publications.
