Dr. Banks is a graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He served in the U.S. Army for over 30 years and performed his residency in research medicine at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC. He is a board certified diplomate with the American College of Animal Welfare, the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine, and the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine; and is a Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. Prior to joining the OUHSC program in the summer of 2016, Dr. Banks served for 12 years as the Director, Office of Animal Welfare Assurance at Duke University and Duke University Medical Center. His OUHSC professional goal is development of an environment supportive of animal research for OUHSC faculty and staff.
